Chapter 1083: I’m Begging You
"Okay, okay, we’ll head to the hospital right away. Thank you so much, Mrs. Lancaster," said Mrs. Fletcher, full of gratitude.
"You’re welcome, Rachel is my good friend. I’ll be going to the hospital soon too, so please don’t worry too much," Faye Turner, a particularly kind girl, said. "See you later, I need to hang up now."
"Alright, alright, alright."
After ending the call, Faye once again started to show concern for Rachel’s situation.
The Fletcher Family’s mansion.
Mr. Fletcher carried the pre-packed delivery bag to the living room, asking his wife, "Is everything here?"
"Yes, it’s all in this suitcase, including the documents," according to Rachel’s instructions.
Mrs. Fletcher washed her hands thoroughly, then solemnly went to the Buddhist altar to offer incense and bowed, praying for the daughter-in-law—
"Please bless our Rachel with a smooth delivery of the babies. Thank you, Bodhisattva."
After speaking, she knelt down and bowed three times to the Bodhisattva.
"Should we bring June?" asked Mr. Fletcher softly.
"Yes, we definitely should," Mrs. Fletcher confirmed. "Having her daughter nearby is also a source of strength, so Rachel won’t worry about her. If we all go and leave the child at home, Rachel would surely be uneasy. Let her have a look at the child before going into the delivery room!"
Thus, Mr. Fletcher went upstairs to find the maid who was accompanying June and took June from her hands. "We’re going to the hospital now. Madam is about to give birth."
"Alright, sir, I’ll stay home on standby! Waiting for your good news!"
The Fletcher family elders, along with Chase Fletcher, Rachel Sherman, and Faye Turner in the ambulance, arrived at the hospital almost simultaneously.
On the way, Rachel’s contractions became increasingly intense. She had experienced this sensation before but was still nervous and uneasy, as giving birth is a painful ordeal.
At home, Faye bid farewell to relatives and friends, apologized, and followed the ambulance, holding Rachel’s other hand.
"Come on, Rachel, you can do it!"
"Honey, don’t be afraid. I will be with you," said Chase Fletcher as he stayed at home to take care of Joy Lancaster and host guests.
Today is a good day. Maybe Rachel Sherman and Chase’s twin babies will share a birthday with Joy Lancaster, and both families can celebrate together. How wonderful!
Throughout the journey, Rachel endured increasingly severe contractions, constantly hearing Chase Fletcher cheer her on by her side—
"Honey, come on, you can do it."
"Chase, I don’t want you in the delivery room," Rachel said, frowning, a bit embarrassed. "Can you wait outside for me?" He had been insisting on being present during the delivery!
"But I just want to hold your hand like this. I want to be by your side," he said, understanding the pain of childbirth, wishing to offer her strength, knowing full well that she needed him.
Chase Fletcher truly couldn’t help much with childbirth, and he felt guilty.
But he could sense Rachel’s worry and discomfort.
"Please... I’m asking you, alright?" she said, bearing the pain of contractions, yet mustering the energy to discuss this matter with him.
After a brief consideration, Chase Fletcher agreed, nodding, "Okay, I’ll wait outside for you, along with June!"
Just as they got off the ambulance, Rachel was placed on a stretcher, and the doctor estimated that she was likely already dilated.
The Fletcher family parents carried June, tending to her, offering a few comforting words, and then everyone moved into the hospital lobby together, entering the elevator as one.
