Chapter 804 - Sealing the Feral Beast
Chapter 804 - Sealing the Feral Beast
The city lord hosted Han Wu for a meal the following day. Always eager for opportunities to gather information, Han Wu brought Qin Shuang along.
At the table, the city lord and his guests heaped praise on Han Wu’s strength in every way imaginable, practically casting him as a once-in-a-generation hero on the verge of reaching an unprecedented eleven Rings.
When Han Wu heard their fawning, he immediately knew they wanted something. He only needed to wait.
After the third round of drinks, the city lord sent the guests away and raised the matter of the nine-Ring Feral Beast himself. Han Wu played along smoothly, said that he was willing to try, and named his own condition: access to the city’s archive of Seal Art records.
The city lord felt like a prize had been dropped on his head. Allowing Han Wu to look through the archive cost him nothing. If Han Wu actually succeeded in sealing the Feral Beast, that would be an enormous benefit to the entire city. Thus, he immediately agreed to grant Han Wu access to the full archive regardless of his success.
Han Wu did not drag things out. After finishing his drink, he asked the city lord to take him and Qin Shuang to see the Feral Beast.
Down in the chamber, the Feral Beast let out a violent roar when it sensed unfamiliar visitors. Its thrashing shook the enclosure, and a faint hairline crack appeared along one surface. The light-attribute bead the city lord had placed there just the day before was absorbed into the cube and closed the gap.
The city lord drew a sharp breath. “You can clearly see it. This beast is as savage and powerful as it looks. If it ever escapes, it’ll bring catastrophe down on the entire city.”
Han Wu nodded and moved closer to examine the Feral Beast. Even in captivity, it was impossible to ignore. It looked vaguely like a horse, except covered in savage spines, with grotesque features and a jaw wide enough to swallow something its own size.
However, it was the energy rolling off it that caught Han Wu’s attention. It looked like darkness but was not purely dark. After assessing it, he determined that it was a special combined attribute, with darkness as the dominant base blended with traces of other elements. That made it even more interesting.
Using the eight-Ring Reaper Seal on this beast felt wasteful. Moreover, by the Sealed Civilization’s rules, the success rate wasn’t especially high either.
A new idea formed in Han Wu’s mind. He would use the nine-Ring Four Guardians Seal instead, hoping to pull the Feral Beast into his own consciousness to serve as an energy source.
With that plan of action in mind, Han Wu waved the city lord and Qin Shuang back before forming the hand seal. The Four Guardians Seal activated.
Chains of spatial energy shot out from Han Wu’s torso and drove into the cube. The city lord instantly recognized that this was different from the Reaper Seal and noticeably stronger at that. It was at this moment that he realized that Han Wu had likely been hiding his true Ring Count.
Eight Rings at this young age was already extraordinary. A nine-Ring Seal Master at only twenty years old or so seemed beyond the realm of possibility.
The city lord watched with wide eyes as chain after chain pierced into the cube and locked around the Feral Beast. Sensing something amiss, the beast thrashed wildly, refusing to be dragged out of the cube.
Unfortunately for it, Han Wu wasn’t giving it a choice. He focused his consciousness on the chains and pulled hard, wrenching the Feral Beast out of the cube.
A violent pressure filled the room. Just standing inside it was enough to make the city lord’s legs tremble. If not for Han Wu’s clear confidence, he would have turned and run.
The Feral Beast continued its futile resistance, all four limbs stamping the floor in defiance of Han Wu’s seal, but its wants meant little in this situation.
Han Wu applied more force, pulling the Feral Beast off the ground and straight into his own body. His shirt tore across the chest from the strain, exposing a seal pattern across his skin.
“The Feral Beast was sealed inside your body?” the city lord asked in surprise.
He had seen many types of seal techniques, even ones involving books or weapons, but he had never once seen anyone seal a beast inside a body. Was there no fear of the beast causing damage from within?
Han Wu exhaled slowly. The deeply unhappy Feral Beast was firmly trapped inside his consciousness space. It just needed further training to become more amiable.
“As long as I live, it cannot escape,” Han Wu vowed with certainty.
A weight lifted from the city lord’s shoulders, and he stepped forward to clasp Han Wu’s hands with both of his own and said with conviction, “My benefactor. From this day on, you’re Panyang City’s greatest benefactor. If you need anything in the future, just name it. If I can do it, I will.”
“Then please keep your promise and take us to the archive.” Han Wu smiled.
“Of course. Right away.” The city lord led them to the archive room in the manor and issued instructions granting Han Wu and Qin Shuang unrestricted access to everything inside. Then he left them to it, visibly happier than he had been in years.
Han Wu and Qin Shuang started sifting through the records. The script used in the Sealed Civilization was one they had studied at the college, so reading it was not difficult. While searching for information on the Magic Sealing Wave, the two of them also took the time to learn more about the Sealed Civilization.
Later, after they had turned in for the day, Han Wu settled into meditation and entered his consciousness. The Feral Beast launched a furious assault on the bars of its cage at the sight of Han Wu.
Han Wu stopped holding back, releasing his twelve-Ring presence within the privacy of his own consciousness. The terrible pressure completely overwhelmed the Feral Beast. It dropped to its knees with a thud, so frightened it lost control of its bladder on the spot.
The beast wore an expression that promised good behavior, even stretching out its tongue in an attempt to lick him and show loyalty. Han Wu had not expected the Feral Beast to be so easy to tame.
“Lend me your power,” Han Wu said bluntly.
The Feral Beast immediately agreed. Rather, it had no right to refuse. The Feral Beast’s energy flowed into Han Wu’s body, allowing him to grasp two new types of seals.
The first was the Feral Spine Seal, a three-Ring Seal Art that released the Feral Beast’s spines as a ranged attack. Any target struck would grow identical heavy spines on their body, which would severely limit their movement.
The second was the Evil Seal, an eight-Ring Seal Art that released a shockwave of the Feral Beast’s energy. Any target unable to resist it would have all of their energy sealed off entirely.
This experience made Han Wu realize that the Four Guardians Seal was an excellent method for rapidly acquiring new seals. It needed to be used more frequently! The powerful beasts of the Sealed Civilization were about to find themselves in good hands.
