Accompanied by Ji Chuan’s call to come in, the door opened to reveal the hospital leadership.
"Hello, Commander!" The Director quickly extended his hand to shake with Chief Qiu, "Why didn’t you mention you were coming for a checkup? I just heard you were here, and I rushed over right after the meeting ended."
"It’s nothing serious. I didn’t want to disturb you," Chief Qiu said with a smile. "You, being a leader, must be busier than me these days, right?"
"The Chief deals with so much every day. How could I be busier than you? What seems to be the problem?" The Director asked, concerned about Chief Qiu’s condition.
"It’s nothing major, just a small thyroid nodule. Ji Chuan mentioned that many people have this issue; it’s a common thing. No need to worry, I’ve already been checked. I just scheduled surgery with Dr. Ji for three days from now," Chief Qiu explained.
"Yes, yes. You chose the right person with Ji Chuan. He is a pillar of our surgery department, a talented young man! He graduated from Medical University and furthered his studies abroad. We recruited him as a talent import. He’s worked here for many years with hardly any errors!" The Director spoke highly of Ji Chuan with admiration.
"A few years ago, I also had him perform surgery on me. His skill is exceptional, and he is well-regarded here in Nancheng City. Hearing your detailed introduction just now, I’m even more reassured. I certainly made the right choice for my surgery this time," Chief Qiu said confidently.
"Indeed." The Director, smiling broadly, looked at Ji Chuan and said, "Ji Chuan, the Chief trusts you. You must perform this surgery with utmost care."
"Rest assured, Director and Chief. I will do my best," Ji Chuan promised.
"In that case, let’s head back. We’ve already set the date; I’ll come over again in three days," Chief Qiu said, preparing to take his leave.
"Chief! It’s almost time to get off work. If you’re available, how about having a meal together? I’ve been with this hospital for twenty years and have rarely had the opportunity to dine with you," the Director suggested.
"Dad, are you...?" Qiu Xinyi sensed the conversation between the two was warm and familiar, as if they had known each other for a long time.
"Yes, I was once one of your father’s subordinates," the Director said. "When I served under him, he took great care of me. My family was poor and often couldn’t afford food, and he frequently helped us out."
"I see!" Qiu Xinyi nodded thoughtfully. She turned to Chief Qiu and said, "Dad, given your deep connection, why not have dinner together tonight? Invite Dr. Ji Chuan as well."
"Alright. Since Xinyi suggests it, and since I don’t have anything planned, shall we all have dinner together?" Chief Qiu smiled as he inquired about everyone’s preferences.

Qiu Xinyi led the way, opening the door to leave, only to find Yan Huan rushing in, out of breath.
Yan Huan was drenched in sweat, her cheeks flushed, with a large part of her short-sleeved military shirt soaked.
