Chapter 370 - 218: Endurance Walker Inauguration, Good Senior Brother
"How magical..." Su Chen muttered to himself. He began burning his flesh again, and the Healing Power started to accumulate once more.
’So it really works like this. Half of the burned flesh can be restored, then I can burn it again, restore half again, and just keep looping it...’ Su Chen mused inwardly.
The Tyrant’s power boost depended on the severity of his injuries, but the boost from the Life Burner only required burning his flesh.
However, this Healing Power didn’t accumulate out of thin air; it still consumed his Physical Strength. After the second cycle, the cost-effectiveness wasn’t as high.
’Still, when combined with a healing Potion, my burst power in a critical state is raised quite a bit.’
Next, Su Chen conducted various other experiments and found that the time required for healing varied depending on the injury.
If it was just a flesh wound, the repair was quick.
If it involved bones or internal organs, the repair was much slower.
’But the green flame is a bit too conspicuous. If I want to use this openly, I’ll have to think of some other way...’
’What if I boost it with Holy Hand?’ Su Chen had a sudden idea. After trying it again, he discovered something.
After being boosted by Holy Hand, he could achieve an injury conversion rate of nearly eighty to ninety percent.
’This Holy Hand ability is so useful. It’s a shame it drains my Spiritual Power every time. Even counting the extra reserves stored by the Gourmet, I can only use it five times.’
’That’s just in theory, though. I still need to maintain a clear head and a healthy body. In reality, I only have enough for three uses to squander.’
Su Chen’s thoughts drifted. The professions and abilities he sought could almost all be integrated into his existing power system, either as a direct power-up or a burst of strength.
Thinking about it, none of them were a waste. However, the number of enhancement slots for Holy Hand was already severely insufficient.
’There must be a Holy Profession that boosts Physical Strength...’ Su Chen added another goal to his little notebook.
At the top of the list was becoming a Power User.
"I’ve made a few attempts at breaking the limit of the Body Refining Technique and have some leads." Su Chen stretched his limbs.
He had been absorbing the sap of the Immortal Ancient Tree for the past few days. To avoid any accidents, he had remained mostly in one position, which was getting rather uncomfortable.
He decided to head out and go to the training room for the first time in a while, continuing to figure out how to break the limit of the Body Refining Technique.
After another session of intense training that nearly depleted his Physical Strength, Su Chen finally left the room.
"A little more time, and I should be about there," Su Chen speculated. He didn’t need to actually achieve it himself, just get infinitely close to that point and rely on a final push from the ’guidance’.
Just as he was about to leave, a thought suddenly struck him. He spoke, "Copper Star, can my training projection be accessed by others now?"
"Apologies, Lord Su Chen. There is no training projection of you in the system, nor can I collect any of your data."
Copper Star’s response made Su Chen freeze. "What do you mean?"
The artificial moron simply repeated what it had just said.
’Did someone manipulate things behind the scenes again? Who? Xia Jie or Qing Cang?’
Su Chen realized that the commotion Wan Chen had caused last time was already having repercussions.
He then asked about the combat records of Wan Chen, Lin Yue, and the others, but the response was still that there was nothing.
"Were all the records deleted?" Su Chen left, lost in thought.
Two more days passed. Su Chen received a summons from Qing Cang and went to his senior brother’s room.
Su Chen pushed the door open and saw Qing Cang standing at the window with his back to him. "Senior Brother," he called out.
"Mm," Qing Cang responded calmly. "There aren’t any methods for Professional Fusion on Red Thunder Star, are there?"
Su Chen’s heart skipped a beat. ’As I thought, it was Qing Cang’s doing.’
"It’s a long story," Su Chen said, having already prepared his explanation. "It involves another recognized individual who is already dead."
"Oh?" Qing Cang turned around, seeming somewhat interested.
Su Chen explained some of the matters concerning Hongxuan. With his current status, there was no harm in revealing these things. In fact, hiding them could lead to trouble if they were discovered later.
"The special profession, All Things, came from him," Su Chen concluded.
"I see..." Qing Cang nodded, not seeming to care much. Hongxuan was dead, and dead was dead. No one cared.
"Then..." Qing Cang asked suddenly, "Just how many special professions have you acquired now?"
"This..." Su Chen faltered. ’That’s a rather impolite question.’
He felt a resistance in his heart and didn’t want to answer. Although Qing Cang seemed like a decent person, this question touched upon his deepest secrets.
’If I tell him the number, is he going to ask about the requirements to complete them next?’
"If you don’t want to say, then don’t." Seeing his hesitation, Qing Cang didn’t press the matter. At the end of the day, he was only a senior brother, not a master.
Su Chen couldn’t shake the feeling that Qing Cang was acting a little strange today.
"With your strength, you’re powerful enough to make some people keep their mouths shut," Qing Cang said in a low voice. "But by the same token, it will make others even more determined to figure out what’s going on with you."
Su Chen remained silent. This was exactly what he had been worried about. Red Thunder Star was too small; it was impossible for someone like him to have emerged from there.
There were too many unusual things about him. Being exposed had its pros and cons.
He even started to suspect whether Qing Cang intended to harm him.
Qing Cang continued, "It would be best to find the person who is most hostile toward you before you enter the Sect."
Su Chen frowned slightly. The current situation was indeed one where his enemy was in the shadows while he was out in the open.
The Cyan Sect was an intricate and complex place. Even if most people looked down on him for popping out of some obscure corner, very few would actually have both the guts and the strength to make a move.
If he could identify the one most eager to act against him, the benefits would be self-evident. At the very least, he would know which direction to guard against and even have a target for retaliation.
But that was easier said than done.
"So, I have an idea," Qing Cang said, as if reading his mind. "But I’ll need your cooperation."
Su Chen met Qing Cang’s gaze, and his heart couldn’t help but jump. ’Using me as bait again?’
"This..." Su Chen hesitated. This time was different from the last. They wouldn’t be fishing for small fry, but for a great white shark.
A great white shark hiding by the riverbank, at that. One careless move and he could be eaten alive.
And no matter how he looked at it, his senior brother didn’t seem like a very experienced fisherman.
"So..." Qing Cang had already extended his hand. A stream of green data-light gathered, and an illusory Bronze Figurine appeared in his palm.
Su Chen’s gaze was instantly drawn to it.
"This is a portion of Master’s power. You must take it," Qing Cang said gravely.
’He’s giving me his ace in the hole?’
Su Chen immediately updated his impression of Qing Cang. He might not be a good fisherman, but he was definitely the best senior brother.
...One of the best, anyway. He then thought of Teng Liang. If only Qing Cang were a little less curious, he would be even better.
Su Chen solemnly extended both hands. With a flick of Qing Cang’s hand, the Bronze Figurine flowed into Su Chen’s grasp, dissolving into a stream of light that entered his body.
"So, what do you need me to do next?" Su Chen took the initiative to ask, his thoughts having already changed.
He was going to find out just who it was that wanted him dead!
"Hmm..." Qing Cang pondered. Just as he was about to speak, his expression suddenly changed. He said in a low voice, "They’re a little earlier than I expected."
Hearing this, Su Chen was confused, not understanding what riddle his senior brother was speaking in.
BOOM!
But just then, the spaceship was rocked by a violent tremor. The surrounding lights instantly turned Crimson, and a piercing alarm blared:
"Warning. Tractor field detected. Interfering with the Teleportation Route. Intent to capture the vessel."
"Capture?" Su Chen was astonished.
Just then, Xia Jie rushed in, his face grim and his voice urgent. "Lord Qing Cang..."
"Mm." Qing Cang raised a hand, cutting Xia Jie off. "I am already aware."
Su Chen’s eyelid twitched. Before his eyes, Qing Cang’s figure suddenly disintegrated. A scorching gust of wind rushed toward him, sweeping him up as if into a vortex, and his body began to float uncontrollably.
The gust of wind that was once Qing Cang spread out from the cockpit, sweeping up everyone in its path: a solemn-faced Wan Chen, a shocked and uncertain Lin Yue, as well as Lan Hao, Ming Lin, and the others.
’What in the world is happening?’
Su Chen could only struggle to adapt within the gale. His vision swam as the world spun around him, until finally, things stabilized.
Only then did he realize he was now outside the spaceship, in the Teleportation Route, surrounded by fantastic streams of multicolored light.
Beside him were Wan Chen and the others, their faces still showing lingering fear. The cyan wind current enveloping them writhed continuously, as if resisting some external pressure.
