Chapter 531: How Are You Going To Explain This, umm?
(Author’s POV)
Myra was begging with her eyes, pleading for him to just go. The questions and answers, the interrogation, the drama. She wanted nothing of that, nor did she wanted to be seen in such a state.
To her surprise, Alaric released her without complaint and pulled himself away. Myra felt the stress drain from her system as a wave of relief washed over her. The breath she had been holding all along, she finally let go of that.
But that feeling only lasted momentarily.
When she raised her head to look at Alaric, instead of retreating, his head was tilted with a look of pure curiosity, his right brow arched upwards. The way his lips curved into a deviously sly smile made her heart beat up and down in erratic patterns. Her eyes flickered in rapid motions, thinking, ’Wh~y, why is he smiling like that? What does he want to do now?’
"MYRA??" Yelena’s voice came as she knocked one more time with a little urgency.
Myra looked at the door with sheer fright. She was at her wits’ end now. She glanced back at Alaric, who mouthed, "Let me help you. Come with me," which she didn’t catch because of her terror driven state.
This time, when Yelena twisted the doorknob, she shoved it a bit too forcefully. But, with no obstruction holding back now, the door opened quite easily, making her stagger initially. But she somehow kept her balance.
She looked at the door with a puzzled expression. Nevertheless, as she took a step inside, she saw that most of the room was doused in darkness, and the window was wide open. A frown appeared on her face instantly. She then switched on the lights to find Myra was nowhere to be seen, not in bed, not in the room. There was nothing but dead silence.
"Didn’t she say she was going to her room to rest? Where is she? And~ .... why is this window open? Didn’t Myra seal it earlier because it was acting up?" She mumbled to herself, and the crease only deepened. She instantly felt something was off and got on guard.
Placing the warm glass of turmeric milk on the side table, Yelena walked towards the window, her steps slow and careful as she called her name again, "Myra?" This time her tone was filled with wariness. She recalled how one night Myra had come running into her room, panicked, telling her that someone had intruded. Though at that time she found no presence, thinking about it now made her feel iffy.
Meanwhile, in the bathroom, Alaric had Myra cornered. The front of her body was pressed against the floating, ivory marbled slab, while he was plastered behind her like her second skin.
His six foot four burly, muscled figure was attached to Myra in such close proximity that even her five foot five normal, rectangular figure looked diminutive in front of him. Both his hands were placed on either side of the slab, caging her. And his mouth, it was just a breath away from the nape of her neck.
They both heard the sound of distant footsteps and Yelena’s voice again. Myra mumbled, whispering, "Why are you doing this to me, Alaric? Let me go."
At her question, Alaric grabbed her waist with his right hand, as it started to travel upwards slowly, deliberately. His movement paused for a fraction of a second when it reached the contour of her right bosom, then it mounted up and rested on the edge of her chin.
Delicately raising her face towards their reflected selves in the mirror, he murmured, right next to her ear, "Let you go? Are you sure you want me to do that? Hahhh~ ... if I let you go now, how will you explain this~ .... to your friend?" He then locked eyes with her in the mirror and continued, his voice breathy, raspy, "How are you going to~ ...." He pinched her chin, "~ .... explain my presence to her? How are you going to explain the look on your face right now, umm?"
He took a long, hard whiff, inhaling her flowery citrus scent, and his eyes glowed with pure hunger. Alex was running wild inside him.
Myra’s eyes flickered. When she tore them away from his brilliant sapphires and gazed at her dishevelled self, she was left utterly stunned.
Her eyes were misty, her breathing ragged and uneven, her cheeks flushed like a blaze in the hearth, her hair was a mess, her clothes rumpled. If Yelena saw them together now~ .... all hell will break loose. If not that, it will definitely create an uproar. ’No, at no cost, I can let Yelena see me with Alaric.’
Alaric circled his left hand around her stomach, seizing her completely in his embrace. "What are you thinking so hard, ummhmm? You don’t want to be seen, right?"
Myra shook her head; her eyes filled with desperation.
"Then~ .... should I help you one more time?" Saying this, Alaric gave her a wild, roguish smirk. "Tell me what you want, Myra. Say it. What do you want?" his voice dripping with huskiness.
She nodded without thinking, entranced by him and his glowing sapphires. They looked like the entire ocean was residing inside them. It was magnetic.
The smugness on his lips widened as he whispered, kissing her hair, "I grant your wish~ ...." With one motion, he turned her around.
Yelena reached the window. As she jumped out, she found no trace of Myra; just one of her slippers was lying upside down in a corner. She clenched her hands as realisation dawned upon her, "Where could she have gone to? Don’t tell me someone kidnapped her?" Her eyes were ready to bulge out with horror. The Long couple was still at large, so she feared they might have made their move and done something to her friend. She was ready to scream and call out William and Sandra when the sound of a running shower echoed inside the otherwise quiet room.
She flinched and mumbled, "Huhhh? Who’s there?"
