I Faked My Death—Now I Have to Tame the Crazy Men I Left Behind

Chapter 252 - 250: I Will Always Love You

Chapter 252 - 250: I Will Always Love You

At the university, outside the dormitory.

Mia Grant was just about to open the car door when her wrist was suddenly gripped. He had grabbed her, his gaze intense.

Mia turned and met his eyes.

Usually, in a situation like this, she would be the one to speak first.

But today, she decided not to.

After a few seconds of stalemate, Kian Keller spoke, looking a bit uncomfortable. "That hot spring resort you mentioned last time... are we still going?"

Mia let out a soft "ah," remembering.

"I missed the competition for that... but do you want to go?"

She asked him in return.

He said, "I’m fine either way."

The decision seemed to be back in her hands. This time, Mia didn’t hedge. She smiled and said, "Then let’s forget it. I need to study for my exams."

"..."

In the front seat, Zelo coughed uncomfortably, a clear hint.

Kian Keller’s brow furrowed slightly. Under Mia’s gaze, he said softly, "You can focus on studying during the New Year’s holiday. After your exams are over, I’ll take you."

He’d chosen a compromise.

The smile in Mia’s eyes deepened. It felt a bit like a successful scheme.

She didn’t refuse. After all, it was something she had agreed to long ago; she had only said that just now on purpose.

"Okay. But on one condition: you have to stay in the hospital and recover properly these next few days. When I’m done with my exams, I’ll call you, and you can come pick me up."

"Mm."

The back seat fell quiet again.

Mia glanced down at his hand, which was still holding hers tightly.

He wasn’t talking, but he wasn’t letting her go either.

’Honestly.’

Sighing silently, Mia wiggled her hand. "I need to get out of the car."

Kian Keller didn’t respond.

Mia squeezed his hand back, thinking he still had something to say.

"How am I supposed to know what you want if you don’t tell me?"

"You’re always so focused on efficiency. Why waste time on something like this?"

He said softly, "I just want to spend a little more time with you."

Mia froze for a moment, then smiled. "Then... five minutes?"

"Mm."

Zelo and Aaron, who had been trying to shrink into the front seats, heard this. Without a word, Zelo shot Aaron a look. The two of them quickly got out of the car, found a corner to smoke, and did their best to make themselves scarce.

Mia found this amusing. "I’ve noticed Zelo is really quick-witted."

"Mm." Perhaps feeling his own response was too bland, Kian thought for a moment and added, "It’s because he has a fiancée."

"What does that have to do with having a fiancée?"

Mia looked over at him.

"Because I don’t."

"..."

Staring at him for two seconds, Mia suddenly burst out laughing. This was the most relaxed she had felt in days.

"You’re actually pretty funny when you’re deadpan."

’It was a joke, but not really.’

’But that wasn’t important anymore.’

Kian Keller didn’t want to explain.

Gazing at her smiling eyes, he began to wonder what he could talk about to keep that expression on her face.

Yes, he was struggling.

He couldn’t remember the last time he’d felt this way; it must have been years ago.

Zelo had told him that Mia Grant was young and that there was a generation gap between them. Therefore, he needed to learn more about what young people liked and use those topics to start conversations.

Interests.

Zelo had searched for a lot of things that were popular with young people nowadays. He had looked through the list, but it seemed like Mia didn’t like any of them.

’Or maybe... I just don’t know her at all.’

He picked and chose from the list, finally selecting a few topics that seemed like they might interest Mia.

"Did that Mr. Fletcher from your department retire?"

"Mr. Fletcher?" Mia couldn’t recall. "Is he from our college? I don’t think there’s anyone with the surname Fletcher in our college."

Kian Keller tried to recall. That’s what the information he had said, but perhaps it was wrong.

He changed the subject. "Any good movies out recently?"

"Movies..." Mia racked her brain. "I think a couple of horror movies came out, right? I’m not really sure, I haven’t been paying much attention lately."

Next, he tried bringing up desserts and the recent financial climate.

Mia was a little baffled but answered each question earnestly.

But the atmosphere that followed seemed to grow even stranger.

She wasn’t the only one who felt it; Kian did too.

Belatedly, she realized he was trying to find topics for conversation.

’This must be... really hard for him.’

Mia didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

"You don’t have to do this. Just be yourself. If you’re not comfortable, I’m not comfortable either. But you still have to tell me what you want and what you’re thinking. The other stuff... it’s not that important. If you want to talk, talk. If not, then don’t."

He looked into her eyes. "Will you find it boring?"

Mia understood what he meant and gently shook her head.

"You just need to be yourself. You don’t have to cater to my every whim."

"After all, you had this personality when I first met you. If I was going to find it boring, I would have a long time ago. I wouldn’t have waited until now."

"Alright, time’s up. I have to go back now."

"Do you have anything else to say?"

"No."

Mia pressed her lips together. ’Fine.’

She let go of his hand and prepared to open the door.

A hand gently squeezed the nape of her neck, stopping her.

She turned back in surprise and saw him leaning in.

She quickly covered his mouth. "Didn’t you say you had nothing to say to me?"

He pulled her hand away, his eyes dark. "I don’t. Because I want to kiss you."

Mia still blocked his lips.

After staring at her for a moment, he took her hand away again. "Mia."

"Hm?"

"I’m not good with words, but I know for sure that I will always love you."

Mia’s eyelashes trembled as she gazed into the depths of his eyes.

The feeling on her lips was warm. The intensity was even stronger than that time on the plane, carrying an undeniable force.

Perhaps because there was no one to interrupt them, he held the nape of her neck and kissed her deeply.

In the quiet car, the wet sounds of their kiss were magnified, becoming so clear it was enough to make one blush.

When it ended, both of them were breathless.

Mia leaned against his chest, gasping for air.

Just then, someone knocked on the car window. Startled, she sat up straight and looked outside.

Following her gaze, Kian also saw a certain familiar, uninvited guest.

The person was persistent. Ignoring Zelo and Aaron’s attempts to stop him, he kept knocking. If you listened closely, you could even make out a rhythm, though it was impossible to tell what song he was tapping out.

Mia cleared her throat. "Well, I’ll get going then... You should get back to the hospital soon, too."

Kian glanced at the person outside the window, then his gaze lingered on her for a moment.

"I don’t like him showing up in front of you."

"I know, I know." Mia’s eyelid twitched violently, terrified that Kian was about to hold a grudge. "That guy... he’s a little..."

She pointed to her own head. "He’s definitely got a few screws loose. Don’t take him too seriously, okay?"

"Do you like him a lot? Because he knows how to say a lot of nice things." His words sounded a little sour.

Mia hurriedly said, "Don’t pay any attention to him. Just remember that you’re a normal person. You can’t compare yourself to him."

"You’re great just the way you are now!"

"He’s probably here to talk to me about my brother. Don’t overthink it. I’ll go chew him out for you!"

Kian Keller withdrew his gaze and didn’t reply.

Having defused the bomb, and before the lunatic could tap out an entire song on the window, Mia immediately pushed the door open. "Yates Donovan, are you out of your mind?!"
