This time, Sergeant stood its ground, surprisingly not dodging.

Shen Xin instinctively opened his mouth to cry out a warning.

With a nimble sidestep, Sergeant dodged, raised a paw, and quick as a flash, smacked the viper on the head.

He gave the viper a big ol’ slap!

The viper’s head snapped to the side as it fell back, its body writhing.

It seemed to have been slapped silly.

"Holy crap, Sergeant is a beast!" Chen Guo exclaimed.

Shen Xin then remembered, ’Compared to dogs, cats aren’t really afraid of snakes.’

’A snake’s strike is incredibly fast, but to a cat’s eyes, it’s like watching it in slow-motion.’

’That’s why cats sometimes even hunt snakes.’

After two failed strikes, the viper seemed to need a moment to recover and coiled up on itself.

Sergeant circled it, playing a dangerous game as it reached out a paw to bat at the snake.

The viper shot its head up, tongue flicking furiously.

Sergeant dodged adroitly before lunging forward again, delivering two more lightning-fast slaps to the viper’s head.

The onlookers watched in amazement.

After a few exchanges, Sergeant had clearly sized up its opponent.

It bounded back and forth, periodically darting a paw out to strike the viper.

Its paws moved so fast they left afterimages.

The viper tried to counter-attack several times, rearing its head to strike, but to no avail.

Sergeant, however, wasn’t in a hurry to go for the kill. It seemed to be enjoying the process of toying with its prey.

Just then, Tian Kui and a few other police-dogs-in-training ran over to see what the commotion was about.

Some of them were barking.

At that moment, however, Sergeant suddenly launched itself in a flying leap, aiming straight for Tian Kui’s head.

Tian Kui dodged with a flick of his head.

It turned tail and slithered quickly into the grass.

With a WHOOSH, Tian Kui charged forward. He was even faster than Sergeant. Reaching it a step ahead, he bit down on the viper’s tail and took off running, dragging the meter-plus-long snake behind him.

Shen Xin’s scalp tingled with dread.

’That’s a venomous snake, not a toy!’

With a YOWL, Sergeant took off in pursuit.

In a straight dash, the longer-legged Tian Kui had the advantage, only letting go when the viper twisted its body and tried to coil around him.

Sergeant caught up to the viper in a single bound, planted itself in front of the snake, and hissed at Tian Kui.

It was as if it were declaring its sovereignty over the snake.

Behind Sergeant, the viper—which had been dragged silly by Tian Kui—still had a strong will to survive. It tried to launch a sneak attack on the cat from behind.

As if it had eyes in the back of its head, Sergeant leaped into the air to dodge. While still airborne, it even managed to stretch out a paw and smack the viper’s head before landing gracefully.

It kept its eyes fixed on Tian Kui, not even deigning to look at the viper.

The viper gave up, lying on the ground and gasping for breath.

The crowd watched, clicking their tongues in amazement.

Chen Guo said, "Shen Xin, that cat of yours is a total badass."

Wang Zhuo and the others nodded furiously in agreement.

It was toying with such a large viper as if it were nothing.

Especially now, just standing there, its whole demeanor showed it didn’t see the viper as a threat at all.

Shen Xin had always thought Sergeant was a decent fighter, but he never expected the cat to be this powerful.

A viper over a meter long is a big animal.
